One year ago today, my cousin Sam and I left on our NC to CA exploration. Little did we know we would be stranded two days later in Louisiana and meeting an amazing family that took us in and helped us get the Jeep repaired (when the sweet mom comes to pick you up wearing a Gryffindor shirt, you know it’s a good sign). For a long time, I knew I wanted to drive across the country as a graduation gift (wondering if I’d ever graduate to go on this adventure), and I was so stoked to have Sam come along with me. A huge thank you and cheers to those who let us crash at their place along the way. I look at my Jeep and think, “how the heck did you make it from NC to CA and all the way back?” America is SO GORGEOUS. Seriously, there are beautiful, caring people and stunning landscapes. There are also places that are pretty intimidating, but the thing is, GO, go on a road trip, see what is out there. Be safe, but step out of that comfort. It’s so worth it. My back wasn’t a fan of the nights I spent in the Jeep or on the floor of a campsite with lightning striking all around, but my heart loves remembering those nights because they exist and we survived. Thank you so much Sam for being stuck in a car with me for a month ;), the best. And thank God we weren’t struck by lightning ;).
I guess in a way, the trip is a story of keep on keeping on and adapting to change in a positive and healthy way. Which brings me to today, I have to keep on keeping on and just go for it. Let’s do this thing called life.
